General Policies
1. Parents are encouraged to watch practices but are asked to remain under the covered areas or off to the side so that coaches have the swimmer’s full attention

2. Younger swimmers are encouraged to watch older swimmers at practice and at the meets.

3. Please provide written notice to the coach of any absences known, such as vacation, camps, etc.

4. Swimmers must attend at least one practice per week prior to Monday’s meet in order to compete in that meet. Exceptions apply to those with jobs/summer school who are needed to fill lanes or are attending a summer camp, vacation bible school, etc. who provide a note at the start of the season. Priority will be given to those attending practice for relay purposes.

5. Refunds are given only under extreme circumstances. The board will review on a case by case basis.

6. PROFANITY IS NOT TOLERATED! Swimmers overheard using profanity may be disqualified from further competition. Parents/spectators using profanity will be asked to leave.

7. PHYSICAL CONTACT OR THREATS OF VIOLENCE will result in the competitor’s ejection and disqualification for the remainder of the season or the ejection of the parent or guest, and the filing of criminal charges when appropriate. If such behavior takes place at the CW pool, ejection will also result in a ban on the use of the pool and park.

8. HARRASSMENT OF ANY OFFICIAL AT A MEET will not be tolerated. Under the directions used by the Southwest Houston Recreational Swim League, harassment includes verbal and/or physical contact. Any parent who verbally harasses any official is subject to being removed from the pool area, regardless of where the meet is being held. Contact the meet director or any board member if observed.

9. SMOKING is not allowed at the pool or by swimmers. If a swimmer is caught smoking, he/she will be disqualified for the remainder of the season - no refund, no trophy

10. Our website (CWstingrays.com) and our webmail system are our best methods of communicating with our swimmers and their families.  If you have never registered for team webmails or if your contact information has changed from last year, go to the website and select the Contact Us tab.  At the bottom of the page you can input your first and last names and your email address to be added to the webmail distribution list.  If you are updating your information from last year, please include this in the Comments section.  Please check the website and your webmails regularly for updates on practices, meets, swim times, and other important information

11. Parking at the pool is extremely limited - please try to walk or ride a bike to the meets. If you must drive, please try to park a few blocks away from the pool. Also, if you ride your bike, remember to walk bikes through the park and pool area. Please use the bike racks and DO NOT leave bikes on the sidewalk

12. Please remember the speed limit around the pool is 20 MPH

13. No horseplay, running, or diving into the pool

14. Stingrays have a reputation of good sportsmanship – please help us maintain this image

15. Cheer your fellow swimmers while they are in the water!

16. Please remember that everyone involved with the team is a volunteer and has chosen to give up many of their busy hours to make the team all it can be. Over the years, we have discovered that some things work better than others, and we do things in a way that fits the vast majority of participants. If you have a suggestion we will be glad to hear it, but we must consider how any changes impact the entire team and not just one individual

17. All swimmers must sign a Contract of Expectations (see Forms tab) and will be expected to adhere to the behavior and attitude requirements therein.  Violations will be addressed by the team’s 3-Strike Rule which is also outlined in the contract.
