VOLUNTEERING

As a part of the Southwest Houston Recreational Swim League ("SHRSL”), the Covington Woods Swim Team("CWST”) must meet all of the league’s Rules and Regulations (available at www.shrsl.org). Parent participation throughout the season is required to be in compliance with SHRSL rules. CWST has a variety of tasks and duties based on your interest and time of availability and can accept volunteer work from either parent or even a swimmer or sibling in some cases. All families have volunteer responsibilities totaling 5 work shifts for the season… YOUR INVOLVEMENT IS MANDATORY. We understand that there are extreme cases where families are unable to meet the mandatory work shift minimum, and there is a $175 volunteer buyout fee that can be paid with registration to exempt your family from volunteer responsibilities.

Families that do not remit the $175 buyout fee with registration must provide a check payable to CWST in the amount of $175 that will be held throughout the season pending your satisfaction of 5 work shifts. Checks can be turned in to any board member at the pool during the first week of practice. Our Volunteer Coordinator is Jess Vasquez (346)901-0008. You may reach out to her if your are unable to bring your check to the first week of practice.  After the first week, swimmers will not be allowed to practice until their check is received by the board. This check will only be cashed if you fail to complete and/or miss your mandatory work shifts, and it will be returned to you at the end of the season if you satisfy them. It is our hope to avoid additional fees to our swimmers’ families. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Parent Volunteer Coordinator, CWST Board..

Covid Waiver

Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

The Novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people.

The Southwest Houston Recreational Swim League and teams associated therewith (SHRSL) have done their best to follow the State of Texas guidelines and put in place preventive measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, SHRSL cannot guarantee that you will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending SHRSL practices and meets could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19.

By signing this agreement, you acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-019 and voluntarily assume the risk that you may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending SHRSL practices and meetsand that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, or even death. You understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of SHRSLvolunteers.

You voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to yourself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability or expense, of any kind, that you may experience or incur in connection with your attendance at SHRSL events (Claims). You hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless SHRSL, its agents, representatives, board and volunteers, from the Claims. You understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of SHRSL, its agents, representatives, board and volunteers, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any SHRSL event.
